I had an interesting process-serving day today. My first job was to drive clear out west into the country and wade through the mud to track down a guy who used to wrestle for the University of Minnesota and who now is a "professional wrestler" (what a silly phrase THAT is) and serve him with a paternity suit. And we're talking Neanderthal City here. What a waste of a LOT of skin.

This afternoon I was waiting for the elevator at a downtown St. Paul law firm, and two lawyers standing there were chatting.

"The last time I saw you, you had two briefcases stacked on top of that," one said to the other, waving a hand at the dolly that the guy had, which was carrying just one thick briefcase. "You slowing down?"

"No," the other lawyer said. "I settled, so I don't have as much to lug around."

Now that's a metaphor for life if I ever heard one.
