We saw Steely Dan last night! Woo-hoo!

They've been on my top-five-list-of-groups-I-want-to-see-before-I-kick for a long, long time. I finally got to see James Taylor two years ago, and I've seen Paul Simon twice now, so Steely Dan was one of the last ones left.

It was a great show. They opened with "Aja" and ended with my two favorites, "My Old School" and "FM." Donald Fagen seemed a bit cranky when his keyboard microphone gave out halfway through the first set, and he let Walter Becker sing lead on "Haitian Divorce" (along with the song from their latest album on which Walter also sings lead), causing Kip to speculate that maybe his voice wasn't what it should be. I kind of feel sorry for the people who have tickets to their Chicago show tonight -- if Donald continues his little fit, it might not go off as planned.

Anyway. It was great and we had a fabulous time. And this morning I e-mailed the hotshot music critic from the Star Tribune, whose review referred to the song as "KING Charlemagne" rather than "Kid Charlemagne." It was fixed online shortly after that, though I didn't get any kind of e-mail acknowledgement from Jon Bream, King of all Music. Kip says he hopes someone gave him a snuggie. :-P
